My name is Tiffany Chapman, I attended Saint Louis Tres Dias #19 where I sat at the table of Rebekah.  My husband Merv and I attend Journey Church in Liberty, Missouri and it is an honor to serve as the women’s Rector for Kansas City Tres Dias #15. We are blessed to have 3 children Megann (29), AJ (27) and Sam (24) – we love spending time with them!

During my time praying about the theme for Kansas City Tres Dias #15, I was listening to It is Well by Kristene DiMarco. In the song, DiMarco sings, “So let go my soul and trust in Him. The waves and winds still know His name”. This verse uniquely resonated deeply with me. The season I have been coming out of has been all about letting go.

Recently, I have been overwhelmed with pain and problems. Like Peter walking on the water, he had faith and he had a close relationship with Jesus, but the wind and the waves turned his eyes off Jesus and he began to sink. The wind in the waves could have splashed up on him, got him wet and he could have been annoyed. In today’s lingo, “Not today Satan”. He could have said “I feel you moving but I’m keeping my eyes on Jesus.” However, that is not what happened to Peter. Instead, Matthew 14:29 says “But he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me’”.

Just like Peter, in my season, of fear and worry, I was letting the winds and waves terrify me. But, also like Peter, Jesus showed me that once I Let Go of my fear & kept my eyes on Him, I could see His Plan and He is always with me. Just as Hebrews 12:2 says we should fix our eyes on Jesus because He is our protector and perfecter of our faith! He endured it all – the cross and shame – so that we could have joy! I am excited for the upcoming weekend because I know there are many like me, who are having difficulties letting go, but it’s when we finally Let Go that we really show strength.
