For my quiet time yesterday I started reading Daniel. The whole book of Daniel amazes me. It encompasses everything that we consider great traits of an even greater Christian.
- Patience
- Wisdom
- Clarity
- Great Power of Prayer
This was a man that literally armed himself with the armor of God on a daily basis. He not only walked in wisdom, but he did so boldly.
That being said, I was able to find in myself, some of these traits lacking. Do I really wait on the Lord, or merely pause? I seek God for clarity and seem to give up quickly when I feel that I am found an answer on my own. Though I would like to consider myself a prayer warrior, I quickly fall short in the middle of the night when Satan uses my vulnerability to attack.
I believe what makes Daniel so incredible is his ability to do the EXACT same thing no matter what the circumstances. Was he afraid, probably, but he didn’t change the behavior that towards a Savior that continually rescued him.
10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before. (Daniel 6:10)
How many times does God remind us that he is our Savior, Protector and Deliver?
I find that I change my actions when times get harder. For some reason instead of letting God be God, I want to be Sam and try to fix my mistakes. In the mindset of wanting to get out of mess because I made it, I just make the mess bigger.
It may be hard to trust in God at all times, but if my God can take care of Daniel in the Lion’s den, He can certainly take care of mine.
